Crime report
See the real crime figures for your area.
Neighborhood posts and news stories can make an area seem safer or scarier than it is. Your crime report shows the crime rates the FBI publishes for the police agency that covers your home, next to your state and the country, over the last five years. We keep it up to date and tell you when the FBI publishes a new year.
Why it’s worth it
What crime report does for you
-
Facts, not rumors
The FBI’s own figures for your area, so you can judge for yourself instead of relying on headlines and social media.
-
See the trend
Five years of violent and property crime, so you can tell whether your area is getting safer.
-
A fair comparison
Your area next to your state and the country, per 100,000 residents and by type of crime.
What’s in it
What your crime report includes
-
Your local police agency
We find the agency that covers your address and show who it is: your city’s police department, or the county or state police where there isn’t one.
-
Violent and property crime
Rates per 100,000 residents for your area, your state and the country, year by year, with how many crimes were reported and how many police cleared.
-
By type of crime
Homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft and arson, next to the state and national rates.
-
New figures each year
When the FBI publishes a new full year for your agency, we let you know and update your report.
How it works
Where the data comes from
- Sources
-
- The FBI’s Crime Data Explorer, from crimes reported by local police agencies.
- What an alert tells you
- The new year’s violent and property crime rates for your area, next to the year before.
- A person reviews every alert
- A person on our team reviews every alert before it reaches you. Then we contact you by email, text or phone, whichever you choose, and you acknowledge it in your portal.
Good to know
- Figures cover your police agency’s whole area, not your street or neighborhood.
- Only crimes reported to police are counted. When an agency didn’t report a full year to the FBI, we say so instead of showing a number.
- We match your address to an agency by city and county. If your home is outside city limits but has a city mailing address, tell us and we’ll check it.

Questions about crime report
Does this tell me about crime on my street?
No. The FBI publishes figures by police agency, so the report describes your city or county as a whole. It’s useful for comparing your area with your state and the country, and for seeing how it changes over the years.
Why does a year say “not reported”?
Some agencies didn’t send the FBI a full year of data. Many missed 2021 while the FBI switched reporting systems. We leave those years out rather than show a number that would make the year look safer than it was.
Does a person really review every alert?
Yes. Nothing is sent to you until someone on our team has looked at it. Routine changes that don’t need your attention are cleared, and the rest come with a plain-English note.
Can I buy this on its own?
Yes. Crime Report is $2 a month or $20 a year per property, on its own or added to any of our other services. It’s also included in the Ultimate package.
I already have an account. How do I add it?
Log in to your portal, open your property, and add it there. It’s billed on its own monthly or yearly subscription, which you can cancel anytime.
Can I cancel?
Yes, anytime. If you’re not happy in your first 30 days, we’ll refund you in full.
