Privacy policy

Introduction

Privacy Policies are implemented to protect the consumer and prevent them from being taken advantage of by malicious activity. Here at Digital Home Shield we think it's important for all consumers to know their rights and how they are being protected. Throughout the following document we will disclose the types of information we collect, what we do with it, and your options.

All products and services provided by Digital Home Shield are not intended for anyone under the age of 18 years old.

Why Does Digital Home Shield Collect Information?

When using our services, we will collect information from and about you, your experience during your relationship with us, and your overall interaction with our services. Some of this information, alone or combined with other information, can be used to identify you.

So why do we gather information on the consumer? In short, we gather information on you, the user, because we want to better assist you as the consumer and make sure our company and its employees are protected. By targeting your specific needs as a consumer, we can more efficiently provide you with what you're looking for!

We gather information for our own security. We may use this information in order to make sure our company and its employees are protected. We are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations provided by both the state of California and the federal government of the United States of America.

We gather information to better your experience. With the right information we can connect our consumers with the right providers and provide a better all-around more efficient system. It allows you to get as close to what you're looking for as possible.

What information do we gather?

Throughout Digital Home Shield’s relationship with consumers we can collect your:

  • RTO contract information: this includes all the information you willingly provide to us during transactions between the lessors and renters that conduct business through any of our platforms. This may include your name, email, and other contact information.
  • Information regarding consumer transaction and experience: This may include your credit score, payment history, balances due, and other information willingly exchanged during transactions.

Information You Provide

When using our services, you may provide us with your name, contact information, targeted markets, price budgets, interests, payment information, details about a property in which you are wanting to list, details about the property your looking for, financial information, locations your looking for, and other pieces of information that can better help us assist our consumers. We may gather this information when you sign up for our services, create a listing through our company, use our platform to browse listings, share or save a listed property, contact a real estate professional, or perform any other transactions with or through Digital Home Shield.

Some of the information we gather may be collected, processed, or used by third parties on our behalf. For example, when making a transaction through or with Digital Home Shield, we will need to outsource to a third-party payment processor. If running a credit check, you may be required to provide an “SSN” (Social Security Number). When SSNs are required, we use technology to pass that information directly to the third-party providers who need the information to process the credit or background check report.

Cookies

When dealing with Digital Home Shield we use various different technologies to automatically collect information when using our platform, including cookies, web beacons, and other tracking tools. The purpose of a cookie is to help our website keep track of your visits and activity. For example, if you were to shop online, any retailer would have to use cookies to keep track of the items in a user’s shopping cart. Without cookies, your shopping cart would reset to zero every time you clicked a new link on their site. That would make it impossible to make a purchase on the internet. Cookies are bits of electronic information that can be transferred to your computer or other electronic device to help us identify your browser. When you use our Services, we may place one or more cookies on your platform or use other technologies that provide a similar function. The use of cookies helps us improve our services provided to the consumer, by identifying what information is most important to you, tracking your online trends, calculating how effective our marketing and advertising is, or storing important useful information you might need, such as your favorite homes. Remember, at any time you can cancel the use of cookies within your browser to prevent this from happening. However, by blocking the use of cookies, many of Digital Home Shield's free services may not work.

Other tracking tools

Other tracking tools may include the use of web beacons, pixels, or other similarly performing technologies. These tools allow us to track and count the amount of users that have visited a page, track their time spent on different websites, to track how users interact with our emails, to identify various cookies on the device you're using, or any other relevant information we can gather through the use of these technologies. This information may be connected to your unique browser.

Logging Usage

We collect information regarding how you use our services including the web browser you use, which pages you visit, and how long and often you visit those pages. We also collect information regarding which platform your using, the hardware, operating system, and browsing behavior.

Third parties

Cookies may be shared with either affiliated, or non-affiliated, third parties such as service providers and advertising networks who may track and evaluate cookies and other tracking tool information gathered while using and viewing Digital Home Shields services or other websites and devices.

Information Shared

Digital Home Shield holds the ability to (1) share information collected from consumers with non-affiliates for marketing purposes, and (2) other institutions in which we have, or may have, joint marketing agreements. Digital Home Shield may share information with both affiliated, and non-affiliated, third parties for various reasons. These reasons may include: to better assist the consumer, to help connect our consumer with the correct product, to better help the consumer with their specific needs, to find more products and services, and other general business matters.

Internet Advertising

Digital Home Shield may use internet based advertising services from third party providers. This means that when using our services, we may use cookies or other similar technologies to collect information regarding your interaction with our services and your activities amongst different websites and devices. This collected information may include the date and time you viewed a piece of content, the website that referred you to the services, and the content that you viewed, and this information may be linked to your unique browser, or Internet Protocol (IP) address. This allows us to give you the most fitting advertisements.

Protect Your Information

Digital Home Shield would never give away your payment information, but the internet in general is a risky place to do business. You should never disclose your personal passwords to anyone. Take caution when dealing with a transaction on the internet.

If you reside in California, you have the right to ask us one time each year if we have shared personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make a request, please send us an email at Support@DigitalHomeShield.com or write to us at the address listed below. However, keep in mind that by blocking to sharing of information, disabling cookies, disabling tracking devices, and opting out of any of our services may prevent you from accessing our free products and services.
